Where are you located?

I see clients in person at my office in downtown Carnation, Washington, and offer telehealth sessions throughout the state.

What days and times are you available?

I see clients Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the school year, my schedule follows Riverview School District closures.

How often will we meet?

The frequency and length of therapy depend on a variety of factors, including the severity of your symptoms, scheduling, and financial considerations. I typically meet with clients weekly for at least 6 to 8 weeks to build our relationship and establish stability. Once you feel ready, we can consider moving to bi-weekly sessions. All clients continue meeting at least once per month to maintain support and progress.

Can I bring my baby?

Babies under 6 months old are welcome at sessions! I understand that you may need to feed, change, or soothe baby throughout the session. Once babies become more mobile, it can be challenging to maintain a focused conversation. It also can be valuable to carve out a space and time just for yourself. If childcare is a challenge, we can work together to explore options and brainstorm solutions.

How did you choose the name Passages?

Full disclosure: I googled “synonyms for transition,” and passage was one of the results that resonated with me.
A passage is movement from one state to another. It is stepping into the unknown. The way through may be narrow, dark, or uncertain, but it is finite. You will make it through. And when you emerge on the other side, you carry a deeper understanding of your own strength, a deeper sense of trust and connection with yourself. 
I also love the literary undertones: a passage in a book. One page. One chapter. Not the whole story. Things may get worse before they get better, but every compelling story contains conflict, struggle, and moments of uncertainty. Will the protagonist really make it through? Will things truly turn out alright? And somehow, they always do (unless we’re talking about Game of Thrones). The ending may be nuanced or bittersweet, but there is resolution: earned, meaningful, and made all the sweeter by the challenges that came before.
There is also something a bit nautical about the word, as in booking passage on a ship. It evokes adventure, possibility, and new beginnings. We set out into rough waters because we believe in where we are headed, trusting that the journey itself will prove worthwhile.
My more whimsical side thinks of a secret passage, or a hidden gate leading into a garden. A place of solitude, reflection, and discovery. While there are universal aspects of the perinatal experience, each person must ultimately travel through it themselves. No one else can walk that path for us.
Finally, the name reminds me of an episode of one of my favorite parenting podcasts, Janet Lansbury’s Unruffled. She was responding to a mother of three who felt she was “drowning in chaos” and encouraged her to submit to this passage rather than fight it:
“This mother will feel less overwhelmed if she can submit, let go, and allow herself to be in this passage. It is a very difficult time, but it’s not forever. They will come out of this.”
That idea has stayed with me. A passage is not a destination. It is a season, a transition, a journey through. There may be moments of darkness, uncertainty, and profound change, but every passage eventually opens into something new.

While each of us must make the journey ourselves, we were never meant to do it alone. Every passage is made gentler by companionship: someone to walk alongside us, bear witness, and remind us that we are moving forward even when we cannot yet see the other side. My hope is to provide that for you.
